Events Overview |
All open events are shown in bold, and members must apply for a place to take part. Application for the Border Trophy events should be made to Scottish Cycling (there is also a £1 admin charge), Audax applications should be made to Audax UK, and the Ken Laidlaw can be entered through Entry Central. For Scottish Cycling events you must hold at least a silver membership or pay and additional cost of £10 for a day license. Non Audax UK members must pay an extra £3 for event insurance. All applications are made online.
All confined TTs are free to enter, open to both men and women, for club members only and will be held on Thursday nights. Sign on is 6.15pm with the start time being 6.30pm. The confined events are competitions for club champions and trophies for 2023.
The first three time trials of the season are also “come and try events” to encourage members who have not yet experienced the joys of time trialing. For the six-mile course no specialist TT bikes, and no tribars are allowed. All confined events can be ridden on road bikes.
The men’s and women’s seniors and vets with the fastest time over three 6- and three 10-mile TTs will be crowned champions.
There are 4 rounds of the Border Trophy where Border Clubs compete for the Border Trophy. This is a Scottish Cycling Leagues series with entry through Scottish Cycling. We hope that as many club members as possible will take part. The league series is there to encourage club riders to give an open event a go. They are great fun, bringing club riders from across the region together. Members can enter these through the Scottish Cycling website. If you are planning to enter these events, it is well worth having Scottish Cycling Race Silver membership as this will cut the cost of entry and has the added advantage of providing you with insurance cover.
We hope to make this another successful season so please come along and give it a try. We would love to have as many of our members competing as possible as this makes for a great season with friendly rivalries, competitive racing and as many PBs as possible smashed along the way.
The chain gang will also run throughout the season meeting at the Borders College car park on Buccleuch Road, leaving at 6.00pm on Tuesday evenings. This is a training activity to help members develop their speed and endurance.
